book wish list

high on my wish lists are always more books- i turn to a few
significant ones for inspiration when i'm stuck for ideas.
next year, i hope to build up my library even more.
here are a few i have written down lately:
+ le corbusier le grand - such a great collection!
+ charley harper- an illustrated life (reminds me of my grandfather's work- so 50's)
+ art forms in nature by ernst haeckel
+ handjob: a catalog of hand drawn type
+ over + over: catalog of hand drawn patterns by michael perry
+ alexander girard designs for herman miller
+ new handmade graphics
+ mina perhonen vol. 1-3. (by and about the great fashion designer)
+ bohemian modern: living in silver lake by barbara bestor
+ jamie oliver at home: cook your way to the good life (so great- he goes
through his garden and talks about how he would prepare everything, and even grow it!
i'm planning a garden for this next year, so this would be perfect!)
+ and of course: lines & shapes! i just need a couple volumes to complete
my collection from this year. can't wait to see what they have planned for next year!

cheers and happy holidays!

some wish lists...

(from bottom to top: navaglow tape, mati by essimar, and zaha by essimar.
photos courtesy of their sites.)

it is hard in this part of the year to NOT find things to want.
although there is so much crazy awesome stuff out there, i am
totally drawn to the paper + textile handmade things out there.
although i have a calendar of my own, i have found two that i absolutely love.
+ black pearl
+ corwin + mociun

also, essimar's cards have been on my radar for a while.
they are so beautiful and well made.
my favorite pieces by essimar are mati and zaha.
cut paper is huge to me right now. i love it!

and who can beat the navaglow tape by stella bugbee?
it makes me wish that i HAD to stand in line at the post office!
which i know, is not what anyone wants to do this time of the year!

thanks maria!

maria of port2port mentioned my calendar on her blog this morning!
thanks!

oh goodness!

just this in-
+lena just updated her shop- and those tote bags are calling my name!

friday

today is my normal day off, although it is actually now a sort of vacation. (long story)
so anyways, i am spending part of it catching up online, drinking coffee, and hanging with
my cats. and the weather is beautiful so i have to make sure that i can get a photo walk in too!

couple things i have looked at today:
+ black pearl press' calendar- i love it! so simple and well printed.
and the cotton bag makes it all.
+ mociun's online store: big sale- wish i could get one of each!
her work is so beautiful- she is a huge inspiration.
+ fox in mociun- i can't tell you how much i am looking forward to seeing
what comes of the collboration between two of my favorite artists-
alyson fox + caitlin mociun.
check out this article for a little more info.
+ i entered this giveaway- because who doesn't love free books?!
+ checking out this artist who is inspiring me to cut some paper for paper curtains. just you wait... off to get x-acto blades!

i think that's it for now. i need to go by the post office to mail off some calendars to
lovely customers! thanks to all!
go enjoy the winter sun.

2009 calendars!

my limited edition letterpress calendars are in the shop!
i am excited about how these turned out, and it wouldn't be
the same without my brother's great craftsmanship on the
wood bases.
here are the specs:

+ 2009 calendar, letterpress printed.
+ 12 pages, measuring 5 x 5, each page two color printed.
+ numbered limited edition of 150
+ comes with a handmade wood stand, which holds all the months together.

the holiday sale went well last week, and I've been trying to recover from
being busy with sales, being kind of sick again, and then job stuff.
basically- it's been a crazy week. but now i have some time to relax
and think about everything. and maybe start another project?...
